Baby Ruff Ruff

So I saw this idea to make a baby carrier for a doll or a stuffed animal and knew I had to make it. Tayrien is very attatched to his little pug puppy and named him Ruff Ruff. I knew he would love this! I had some hand me dow fabric and went to work. The hardest part about this was the pattern, so I have done all the hard work for you!

Here is my first ever attempt at making my own pattern for you guys to print off. It all fits on one regular size peice of paper except for the straps and I give measurements for those. You have to let me know how it goes.

  • Cute out all peices using pattern. Sew two of the body peices right sides together leaving a 3 in opening to turn right side out at the bottom middle. Sew the other two body peices together in the same way.

  • Clip each corner.

  • Clip each curve every 1/4 in so it can bend

  • Turn them each right side out and poke corners so they look nice.

  • Sew the center peice right sides together down each long side. Turn right side out.

  • Stick the center peice into each hole of the front and back peices. Pin.
  • Top stitch around the whole peice making sure you catch the center peice in there on both sides.

  • Sew the side peices together by overlapping the front onto the back.

  • This is what you should have at this point.

  • Cut the long straps out and sew one short end and the long end.
  • Turn right side out.
  • Sew the strap to the BACK body peice in two places. You will overlap by 1" and sew the strap edge and then the back kbody peice edge for a totaly of TWO strait seams.

  • Add a botton hole to the FRONT body straps.
*Tip, you can put a pin on either end of the buttonhole and use s eam ripper to cut the hole. THis way you won't ruin the hole you just sewed!

  • Sew a button hole to the other strap ends.
  • Add a button on the side and back strap/body strap where you made a connection seam.

Isn't he adorable!

He loves it and we tested it out by taking it to the park. He had his puppy with him and he stayed CLEAN! Benny liked it so much that now I have to make another for him!!!

Wow, what a lot of work to take all those pictures for the tutorial. Thank you!! And I love who you have the printable pattern too!! I just love this. It is adorable and a great idea. You could even have a baby doll they put in it to take care of their baby once new baby comes.
