Hemming dress pants - Day 272

Daniel so graciously volunteered me to hem his coworkers pants and I decided to share the experience with you guys. It is super easy if you have a blind hem foot for your sewing machine.

Here is the blind hem foot.

Set your zig zag and your stitch length between 2-3

The stitch you want is the one labeled #8 in my picture.

You want to fold the pants up 1/2 in below where you want the hem. The stitch will pick it up.
Here is a diagram:

This is how the stitch works.
You line up that little white arm on the foot with them fold of the fabric so that when the needle zigs over it barely catches the fold.

 Needle on right of fold

Needle on the left for the zig

When you finish the whole hem you turn it right side out and this is what it looks like. The little puckers go away if you iron the hem.

Super easy! I think the hardest part is figuring out the fold in the beginning!

That's nice you've still been able to keep up with your posts. Your ideas are endless. That's funny Daniel volunteered you. Just shows he knows you have skills!
