Junk bows - Day 192

My mom recently went on vacation to visit her sweet sister in Arizona (land of the great ideas) and brought back a cute one. Junk bows! You basically use what ever you have left over of previous projects and make bows. Here is my first one. I used the plastic that was wrapped around a bouquet of flowers my step dad got my mom, and some old pattern tissue. I just cut them at different length rectangles, and tied them together with a scrap ribbon.

Lucky Leprechaun - Day 191

I LOVE St Patricks day. It is my favorite Holiday. As soon as Valentines day is over I put up my decor for the lucky holiday. Ben and I have made a leprechaun! We used basic old acrylic paint, some scrap paper and markers.

I first painted his hand two different colors to make his face and beard/hair.

 Then we added a hat from scrap paper

 Then we added a face with a pen, letters for his name, and a frame for him to live it. 

He was so proud!

Sheets, pillowcases, and towels oh my! - Day 190

I have very little storage in my home. I have one closet dedicated to sheets, pillowcases, towels, blankets, games, summer stuff, and house stuff. I need all the help I can get when it comes to organizing it. I found this creative way to organize your sheets.

Store the sheets inside pillowcases. 

Genius! It looks so nice and neat. For some reason mine doesn't look as fabulous, but the pictures are never reality anyways.

Here is my closet after I used this process. I know it doesn't looks a glamorous as the top picture, but it looks a TON better than it did before I organized it. There is actually room now and I won't be shoving things in!

Photoshop made easier - Day 189

I want to share with you this wonderful website I use with my Photoshop to get all these amazing  images.

You download the links you want and when you open up the downloads file, you drag and drop it into the actions file. Then you open the file. A bunch more files open up and you double click on each file and it does it for you. In a few minutes the photo is transformed! I love this process. I don't have to come up with it on my own!

Spicy stuffed crab - Day 188

Another pinterest recipe that is a big hit is spicy stuffed crab. Here is the link to the recipe. I made them for guys night and everyone loved them!

Doctored up - Day 187

I wanted more to my grilled cheese and tomato soup so I added stuff! I bought tomato soup from the store and just added real tomatoes to it. Ben loves tomatoes, so I thought he would enjoy it more. Then I added tomato slices, avocado slices, and mozzarella cheese to the grilled cheese sandwiches. It was SOOOOO yummy!

First person - Day 186

The other day I was mailing a valentine to my parents in Arizona and I had Benjamin draw a picture. When I went to pick up the paper I saw that he had drawn a person. HIS FIRST PERSON! It was so cute. I asked Ben who it was and he said "Papa Ed". I took a picture and sent it on it's way.

A few days later I saw in pinterest this company that you send your kids pictures to and they send back a little stuffed replica of the drawing. The picture matched the creature perfectly! It was too cute! So I thought it would be fun to create one for Ben from his first drawing of a person.

SO first step is to trace the picture onto paper. I put a paper up to the computer screen and traced with a soft pencil. Then I placed white fabric over that drawing and traced it with a fabric pen.

 Then I laid more white fabric over the drawing and traced the eyes, cut them out, and laid them on the orange fabric. I traced around the shapes and then cut a little INSIDE the lines to make it origonal size again - due to tracing and cutting a few times it makes it a little bigger. 

 Now it is original size.

 Then you use a zig-zag stitch and make it really shallow and short length. Applique them on by just following the edge all the way around the shapes.

Then you take fusible interfacing and iron it to the back of each side of the fabric.

 Next step is to make the arms and legs. I simply cut fabric 1.5 in. wide by however long you need. Sew one short end and one long end. Turn right side out and stick pipe cleaners in. pin them to the pattern. Make sure the ends you want showing is in the center.

 Sew all the way around using a strait stitch. Turn right side out.

Stuff with fluff and hand sew the opening closed. Ben drew hair so I then took orange yarn and made it look like the picture. Then we placed "Papa Ed" on his arm.

 Finished! When Ben saw him he said his eyes are not open so I handed him a marker and he went at it!

 

 

The entire time I was making it he would say "That's my Papa Ed!" or "I want him!" He was so happy when he got him! Then we called Papa Ed so he could show him!!!
